技術說明

本研究成功地以哺乳類細胞大量生產SARS類病毒微粒。此類病毒微粒可在動物身上產生高力價 抗血清，且可運用於檢驗SARS病毒感染，雖然SARS病毒傳染性相當高，但SARS類病毒微粒在使 用上相當安全，相關技術更可運用在量產其他類病毒微粒，並有效地簡化其過程與步驟。 We achieved a successful paradigm of generating SARS virus-like particles (VLPs) in large quantity from mammalian cell culture. We demonstrated the VLPs as vaccine antigens are highly immunogenic to animals. And, the VLPs can be coated on microplates as diagnostic assays to detect host antibodies against SARS virus. While SARS virus is highly infectious, the VLPs are biologically safe and useful material in vaccine development. The success implicates a technique allowing us to transfer a few viral genes into Vero E6 cells within a short time to generate VLPs of other animal viruses in reasonable high yields.
