全球暖化與極端氣候的影響,水資源短缺及能源危機問題急需解決,與日俱增的天災引發衛生環境不佳,飲用水不足,驅使人們喝不潔的飲水而導致傳染,每天都有人因為飲用污染水源引起的病症而喪命,貧窮落後的國家,清潔飲用水是寶貴資源,全球1/6人口完全沒有安全的飲用水。薄膜分離技術是一種節能與環境友善的分離技術,而被譽為「奇蹟材料」的石墨烯更具備成為新一代高通量,高選擇性,低能耗薄膜的潛力,雖然石墨烯分離薄膜的研究如雨後春筍般地湧現,但市場上至今仍沒有相關品問世。申請人基於近年的石墨烯研究成果與專利佈局,本計畫擬開發一米幅寬達商業規模連續式塗佈的氧化石墨烯框架薄膜,並進行薄膜模組化設計及封裝,結合恆耀能源公司所開發的太陽能電池,建構不插電的石墨烯薄膜飲用水淨化模組,提供安全便利的飲用水,以改善這些地區人民的生活品質。希冀科技部經費的挹注可以加速石墨烯薄膜商品化的腳步。 The impact of global warming and extreme climate change may result into water shortage and energy crisis. Thus an urgent solution to this problem is needed. The increasing change in the environment leads to poor sanitary environment and inadequate drinking water which drives people, especially at poor regions with limited potable water, to drink unsterilized water that could cause diseases and even death. The 1/6 population of the world has no access to safe drinking water. Thus making potable drinking water valuable. Membrane separation technology is an energy-saving and environmentally-safe separation process. Graphene, which considered as “miracle material,” has the potential to become a new generation of high flux, selectivity and low energy consumption thin membrane. Although research on graphene separation membranes have emerged, there are no relevant commercial graphene-based membranes available in the market. Based on our recent graphene research results and patent layouts, we plan to develop a one-meter-wide commercial-scale graphene oxide (GO)-coated membranes and design module and packaging. The technique is supported by Heng Yao (Lausdeo) Energy Company, they developed a non-plugged solar cells with graphene membrane for the purification of water to provide safe and convenient potable water. This could improve the quality of life of people in the deprived areas. We hope that the Ministry of Science and Technology could support the funding to accelerate the pace of commercialization of graphene membranes.
