Method and System for Detection of Bone Structure

The present invention provides a method and system for bone structure detection. Based on the calculation and arrangement of the skeleton image information from the computed tomography, the bone mineral density distribution can be shown on the skeleton visualization. In the method, at least one bone image was selected from the skeleton image information for analysis. The bone image consists of pixels and each pixel has a value related to the bone mineral density. The inertia principal axis of the bone image was aligned with a principal axis of the Cartesian coordinate system. The Cortical bone area is intersected with at least one main plane perpendicular to the principal axis of the Cartesian coordinate system, and there are an exterior, the principal axis of the Cartesian coordinate system, and there are an exterior contour and an interior contour shown on each main plane. A method of bone mineral density analytic calculation will calculate the bone mineral density distribution along the exterior contour based on the pixel value within the exterior area. The bone mineral density distribution of the bone will be attained based on the pixel value calculation on each main plane. The bone mineral density distribution of the skeleton will be achieved by the assembly of each bone.
