ECG signal lossless compression system and method for same

隨著社會高年齡層的老化,慢性病的人口逐漸增加,因此居家看護系統即成為未來醫療保健中重要的一環。針對心血管慢性疾病人口的成長、個人居家醫療照護的需求,以及網路雲端的興起,遠距醫療照護(Telemedicine)將成為未來發展趨勢。ECG(Electrocardiogram)心電圖於醫學方面應用相當廣泛也是診斷是否有心血管疾病的重要工具,倘若當急性心臟疾病發作或需要長期觀察時如果沒有得到適當的醫療很容易導致心臟永久性的傷害甚至死亡。 在有著24小時的ECG心電訊號監護儀器或多導程的心電訊號擷取儀的情況下,一個能達到即時且高壓縮率的訊號壓縮處理方法可以有效降低避免心電圖資訊因為長期監測而產生的龐大資料量造成網路頻寬與儲存空間的負擔,然而訊號壓縮可分為無損(Lossless)與有損(Lossy)壓縮。對於醫療人員而言,如果能提供即時且低功耗的無損心電訊號壓縮不但能有效提升醫療人員診斷心血管疾病的準確度也能提供後續的醫療應用,本專利的目的在於設計一個即時且高壓縮率的心電訊號壓縮處理法來降低網路頻寬與儲存空間的負擔,並將演算法移植到嵌入式系統以達到方便攜帶且低功耗監控的功能。 As the aging of society high ages, and the growth of chronic population, home care system play an important role in the future. With the population of chronic cardiovascular disease、the demand of personal home care system and the rise of the Internet cloud, Telemedicine will be future trends . ECG (Electrocardiogram) is widely applied in medicine and known as most common screening tool for cardiac disease diagnosis. If we have heart attack and need to be long-term observation, it is easy to cause permanent heart damage or even death if we don’t offer proper medical treatment. With a 24-hour ECG signal monitoring system, it would be produced huge amount of data. It is helpful to reduce the data of ECG signal and save storage space by presenting an idea that combine an effective electrocardiogram (ECG) compression algorithm which can provide real-time and high compression ratio of ECG signal. However, signal compression can be divided into lossless and lossy compression. For medical staff, if they can provide useful lossless compression with features of real-time and low power can not only effectively enhance the diagnostic accuracy of cardiac disease but also provide follow-up medical applications. In this patent, we present an idea that combine an effective electrocardiogram (ECG) data compression algorithm with the telemedicine in order to save storage space and reduce transmission time. Furthermore, we implement algorithm on the embedded development board, in order to achieve portability and low power consumption features.
