將正子攝影中三重事件數據再利用之系統、方法及程式

當待測體有較大的活度時,三重事件的機率就大幅升高。很大部分的三重事件是由真實事件與另一顆光子同時被偵測到,這個真實事件是可以被發掘再利用。在活度高於5mCi時三重事件已經比真實事件(primary)多。傳統上,三重事件大都被丟棄,浪費了許多有用的資訊。 我們的發明將三重事件拿來再循環使用,可以增加系統的計數率,提升PET系統的靈敏度。可以降低掃描時放射藥劑活度的使用,減少病人的劑量;或是減少掃描時間。 與先前技術的最大差異點是在回收率的提升,關鍵技術在於我們利用多個criteria同時進行判斷,大幅提升找出三重事件中的真實事件的準確率。 Triple events are usually discarded as the annihilation information being mixed with an event from other decays. The occurrence of triple event increase linearly with the increasing activity of the isotope injected. In this invention, we proposed a method to recycle these triple events in 18F-PET based on the probability that each line of response (LOR) is the true event which is dependent on the photon’s detection time, geometric characteristic of LOR, object size, and intensity distribution in the sinogram. LOR with the maximum probability will be selected as a true event and is recovered from the triple event. The percentage gain of noise equivalent count rate ranges from about 3.5% at activity of 1 mCi to 50% at 15 mCi. The proposed method poses a significant improvement in sensitivity for high activity PET imaging and it can be readily applied to clinical studies as no hardware modification is needed.
