技術說明

本案提出一黑白/彩色反射式多穩態電子紙顯示裝置。此顯示裝置的畫素或子畫素設置一固定穿透軸方向的線性偏振片,在此固定線性偏振片下方,設置一反射鏡,在此反射鏡上貼附一線性偏振片,且該貼附線性偏振片的反射鏡亦可以線柵反射式偏振片取代。利用微機電系統控制貼附於反射鏡上的線性偏振片穿透軸方向,此可調整該線性偏振片與另一固定穿透軸方向的線性偏振片的穿透軸方向所夾的角度,透過改變兩線性偏振片夾角可控制該顯示裝置畫素或子畫素的亮度,亦即可控制多重灰階。當兩片線性偏振片穿透軸相互正交時為最暗態,而相互平行時為最亮態,其他角度則為不同灰階。由於此顯示器僅在換面切換時需耗損電力,並使用環境光當作光源,故此電子紙非常省電。 A black-white / colorful reflective multi-stable electronic paper display device is proposed. The pixel/subpixel of the display device is embedded with a linear polarizer, the transmissive axis of which is fixed at a certain direction. A reflection mirror, whose surface is adhered with a linear polarizer, is placed beneath the aforementioned linear polarizer. The reflection mirror adhered with a linear polarizer can be replaced by a wire grid reflective linear polarizer. The direction of the transmissive axis of the linear polarizer on the reflection mirror can be tuned by micro-electro-mechanical (MEMS) system. Accordingly, the angle between the direction of the transmissive axis of the linear polarizer on the reflection mirror and that of the linear polarizer, the transmissive axis of which is fixed at a certain direction, can be tuned by MEMS system to display multiple gray scales. When the transmissive axes of the two linear polarizers are mutually orthogonal, the display device depicts the darkest state; when the transmissive axes of the two linear polarizers are mutually parallel, the display device presents the brightest state. When the transmissive axes of the two linear polarizers are neither orthogonal nor parallel, the display device can display various gray scales. The power is only consumed when the display contents need to be changed. Moreover, because the light source of the display device uses environmental ambient lights, the power consumption of the display device is definitely low. Overall, the power consumption of the display devices is extremely low.
