多聚焦模式之繞射光學元件DIFFRACTIVE OPTICAL ELEMENT WITH MULTIPLE FOCUS MODES

本發明揭露具有可切換多種聚焦模式之繞射光學元件架構。利用液晶可經由外加電場以調變折射率之特性,並搭配新式菲涅耳區帶環電極與互補電極,進而結合聚合物穩固型液晶之技術,提出數種具有可操控不同聚焦模式之液晶繞射透鏡設計。其設計構想主要分成兩類,第一類別是著重於電極之設計,包含不同週期間距之菲涅耳區帶環狀電極以及互補電極,並搭配普通向列型液晶以產生可切換兩種不同聚焦模式之菲涅耳繞射透鏡。第二類別則是除了電極之設計外,更採用特殊的PSLC技術為液晶介質,以實現可切換三種不同聚焦模式之菲涅耳繞射透鏡。該元件可應用於如光學成像系統之聚焦變換或是光碟機光學讀寫頭之讀寫不同規格碟片的物鏡數值孔徑變換等應用上。 This invention discloses the configurations of diffractive optical elements having the function of switching multiple focusing modes. Basing on modulating the index of refraction of the liquid crystals by external electric field, novel Fresnel zone electrodes and complementary electrodes, and polymer stabilized liquid crystal (PSLC) technology, we propose several liquid crystal diffractive lens designs with controllable different focus modes. The design concept can be classified into two types. The first one is focused on the electrode design, including the Fresnel zone electrodes and complementary electrodes. The second one adopts the PSLC as the device medium to implement the third focus mode. The proposed devices can be applied to many applications, such as the focusing variation of optical image systems, the numerical aperture switching of the objective lens in the optical pickup head of an optical drive for reading or writing optical disks with different specifications, and so on.
