愛玉果膠複合凝膠微膠囊、其製法及在電泳顯示元件上之應用

利用台灣特有種植物愛玉子所製得之果膠(Jelly fig pectin)與動物明膠(Gilatin)包覆半導體染料-改質後之異辛酸銅(Copper(II) phthalocyanine, CuPc),並以縮合聚合法製作核心/殼層粒子形式的果膠-動物膠複合膠體微膠囊。同時,藉由改變陰離子界面活性劑之添加濃度及利用乳化劑與水之間的界面張力達到控制微膠囊粒徑分佈。微膠囊包覆完成後以偏光顯微鏡觀測微膠囊表面形貌及粒徑大小,並將微膠囊封裝於自製電泳裝置中,在電場驅動下達到顯示之功能。此研究為全世界首次結合生物科技與材料改質技術,製得電泳光電顯示器。 Copper(II) phthalocyanine of P-type semiconductor was modified by cationic surfactants, Cetylpyridinium chloride as the core material. and was then shelled with jelly fig pectin and gelatin. The core-shell microcapsules were synthesized by in-situ polymerization in oil/water emulsion system. The particle size of microcapsules was affected by the rate of phase-separation and the interface-tension between the emulsion and water phase. The morphology and particle size of the microcapsules were observed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Optical microscopy. The display ability of the microcapsules electrophoretic device was further presented under appropriated electric power. It may be the first report that electrophoretic display is maken by the combination of biotechnology and modified core material.
