下一世代行動網路的潮流是同一台行動裝置中配備一個以上的無線網路裝置，例如：雙網手機通常配有3G和WLAN介面，然而，這些介面沒有互相整合在一起，換言之，系統不會依行動使用者(Mobile User)當時的環境而能夠自動判斷使用哪一個網路介面，進而換手(handoff)至哪一個網路。在異質(heterogeneous)網路環境中，行動使用者勢必會遇到水平換手(horizontal handoff)及垂直換手(vertical handoff)問題。本發明提供一個有效的機制，利用訊號強度(Received Signal Strength，RSS)之可適性遲滯區間和臨界值(Adaptive Hysteresis and Threshold，AHT)，依行動使用者的移動來決定換手到適當的網路。 The trend of next generation mobile networks is to embed more than one wireless connectivity, e.g., equipped with WLAN and 3G simultaneously. However, these interfaces are not integrated together, i.e., the device can not automatically determine which interface to use or handoff to which network according to a mobile user environment. In a heterogeneous network environment, mobile users may suffer horizontal handoffs or vertical handoffs during their movement. This invention employs adaptive hysteresis with threshold to provide an efficient handoff mechanism.
