液晶光閥及其製作方法LIQUID CRYSTAL LIGHT VALVE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

本技術提出一個製程簡單、不需偏振片、低操作電壓、快速反應、與偏振無關、高對比及可電控的新式散射型液晶光閥。在無外加電壓下維持散射狀態,而當外加20伏特電壓後即可切換至透明態,其切換所耗時間僅需數毫秒,且此新式光閥對比度高於100,無視角度之限制。根據上述之優點,故該新式散射型液晶光閥適用於電控液晶面板作為節能窗戶與其他光電元件的應用等。此外,在搭配適合之液晶材料使用下,其低電壓的操作方式,更可大幅節省能源的消耗。 The technique reports a novel liquid crystal (LC) light shutter having advantages of simple fabrication, polarizer-free, low operation voltage, fast response, independence of polarization, and high contrast ratio. The LC shutter scatters the incident with no applying voltage, and can be switched to transparent state when an AC voltage of about 20V is applied. The measured response time and the contrast ration of the LC shutter are in the order of milliseconds and higher than 100, respectively. Additionally, the electro-optical performance of the device is independent of viewing angles. Based on the above features, such a LC shutter can be applied for uses as electrically controllable LC panels for energy-efficient windows, and other electro-optical devices. Moreover, further optimization by properly selecting LC materials can not only reduce the operation voltage, but increase the contrast ratio.
