光致退火方法以及應用該方法之光纖裝置Shorter Wavelength Photo-annealing Apparatus for Rare-Earth-Doped Fiber and Its Optical Assemblies Under Irradiation

本專利係有關一種減輕輻射破壞摻鉺光纖元件之方法,利用光致退火效應,由一退火光源傳導在摻鉺光纖內,以回復因輻射破壞產生的光功率損耗,有效回復摻鉺光纖光功率損耗的波長範圍至少從900奈米至1700奈米,退火的光源可為雷射或是寬頻光源,其工作波長範圍從355奈米至980奈米,而此退火光源可同時為摻鉺光纖的泵激光源,或是另外導入的光源。此方法製作的抗輻摻鉺光纖元件,可應用於太空導控、遙測、通訊等領域如光纖陀螺儀做為衛星的導航、姿控元件,或是其他輻射環境下如核子發電廠設施等的應用。 The invention relates to mitigate the damage of an erbium doped fiber (EDF) caused by irradiation. When the light from a specific source is coupled to an EDF, it can recover the radiation-induced optical loss of the EDF in the wavelength range at least from 900 nm to 1700 nm, attributed to photo-annealing effect. The light source for photo-annealing can be a laser or a broadband light source with suitable wavelength ranging from 355 nm to 980 nm. The source can be the same pump for EDF, or an additional one. The radiation-tolerant EDF devices made by this method can be applied to the applications of space navigation, remote-sensing, communication and etc. such as for fiber-optic gyroscopes as satellite attitude and navigation sensors, or to other irradiation environments such as nuclear power plant facilities and etc.
